Education: Completion of high schoolCredentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Canadian Welding Bureau CertificationExperience: 3 years to less than 5 yearsLanguages: Speak English, Read English, Write EnglishMajor Work Area: Maintenance repair, New fabricationType of Establishment Work Setting Experience: Manufacturing, IndustrialArea of Specialization: Custom fabrication, Machinery or equipment repair, Factory assemblyWelding Techniques: Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG), Plasma arc welding (PAW), Laser, Robotic, Tack, Tubular, SprayType of Machine Experience: Spot welding machines, Gas welding machinesWelding Positions: Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead, All positionsMaterials: Stainless steel, Steel, iron and heavy metalsWeight Handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)Specific Skills: Interpret welding process specifications, Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment, Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines, Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal, Operate drill presses, Determine weldability of materials, Spray welds, Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding, Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal, Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipmentAdditional Skills: Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes, Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and or specifications, Layout patterns, Make shop sketches, Polish sheet metalSecurity and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record checkOwn Tools Equipment: Steel-toed safety bootsWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periodsTransportation Travel Information: Own transportationEssential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memoryOther Information:Qualified candidates must have Canadian Welding Bureau certification.Must have experience working in a production weld shop where daily quotas have to be met.Apply via e-mail only. |
